Looking After Your Football Kit - Washing It The Correct Way

Paul Williams10 Sep - 17:00

Nothing worse than ruining your new kit - so here's how to properly wash and dry your AC Hoylake football kit.

AC Hoylake is proud to be a Nike Partner Club, many of our teams have new kits this season.
As the season goes on, these kits will get put through their paces - both on and off the field -
so it's vital everyone looks after their own kits, and washes and dries them correctly - if you’re a little unsure about the do's and don'ts, here's how to wash your football kit...

How to wash your football kit

The constant wearing and washing of football kits means they really need looking after to make sure they last the full season and, hopefully, beyond, so always read, and stick to, the washing instructions before putting a dirty kit in the wash.

The actual kit itself isn't the only thing you need to think about - the badge, sponsor and shirt numbers can easily be eroded in the wash if the care instructions aren't adhered to, so here are some quick do's and don'ts...

  • Do shake of any mud or excess dirt before putting your kit in the machine.
  • Don't wash above 30°C as there is a good chance the club badge, numbers and sponsors logo will come off.
  • Do spin your kit in the machine to get rid of most of the water and reduce the drying time.
  • Don't tumble dry the kit (socks can be tumble dried, if necessary).
  • Do hang the kit to dry naturally, on a radiator, if necessary.
  • Don't ever iron a football kit, it's not necessary and the material can easily burn.

Once your kit is clean, fold and put away ready for the next match.

Remember! The club do not charge players for kit so please take care of it.
